Why seek 'the key to success'? A key is designed to open a very specific door. Success, though, is never just an ability to do (or get) one particular thing. It is, indeed, when we narrow down our definition of what constitutes success that we make ourselves most vulnerable to failure. Many doors lead to success and some of these are not even locked. If you need a key at all, you surely need a 'skeleton' or 'master key'.
We all tend to be better at giving advice than we are at taking it. But that's nothing to be ashamed of. It is just a bit of a pity. If you were to stand back and look at your life now from a distance, what would you see? What, if you were someone else, would you tell yourself to do? Without a moment's hesitation you would insist that it is time to make a move. And you would be right. So why the restraint? Life now brings you a chance to right a wrong in your emotional life that has been left uncorrected for too long.
Imagine training to be a concert pianist. One day, to amuse some children, you improvise a couple of melodies. Your performance is greeted with rapture. Word of it spreads far and wide. Suddenly, you are in demand, but not for the ability that means so much to you. There's something a little exasperating about a current advantage in your emotional life. It is not quite the one you were hoping for. It is, though, nonetheless, an edge that can prove extremely useful to you. Be glad of what 'is'. Forget what 'ought to be'.
The world is full of people who think they know what we are all doing here. Fortunately, Earth does not stop turning, whenever any of them turn out to be wrong! Why do we love to create explanations? Because we hate to feel insecure. Nothing is more nerve-racking than the realisation that we have a lot more to learn... yet the learning process can sometimes be deeply rewarding. Be willing to be pleasantly surprised in your love life soon. Not everything that looks familiar is as straightforward as you imagine.
