People think that luck is something you can only get through risk. Some of the luckiest people on this earth may be the folk who never feel the urge to gamble. They like things just as they are. What could be more fortunate than that? Usually, though, the greatest luck of all manifests in apparent misfortune; it occurs when we think everything is going wrong. Just when we are starting to feel convinced that we have been let down badly by an uncaring cosmos, we recognise the magic in our situation.Know thyself,' said Socrates. A couple of thousand years later, it still sounds pretty wise. But as with all the very best advice, it is much easier to give than to take. None of us really, fully knows ourselves. Indeed, the more effort we make in this direction, the more we realise just how much there is to find out. The older we get, the more we tend to draw on experience. Usually, this is a part of what makes us wise. It can make us feel as if we have 'seen it all before'.What are you doing? Why are you doing it? What does it all mean, views are changing now, as are your needs.
