'The past is a cancelled cheque. The future is a promissory note. The present is the only hard cash you have' - so spend it wisely! So goes the old saying but is there really nothing we can do to alter history? Can't we at least try to think about it differently, to forgive at least some of the aspects of it that upset us and make it, somehow, into less of a force that is driving us forwards? And by doing that, can't we therefore also improve our prospects for tomorrow?
