The darkest hour? Just before the dawn. How can it come at any other time? The steepest part of the learning curve? It immediately precedes the bit where we get over the hump and everything becomes clear to us. And the time when things appear to be most hopeless? Ah! Well done. You are getting the hang of this, aren't you? I could almost leave you to write the rest of this forecast yourself. But it is true. Indeed, here's another one. When is an item or a cause most lost? Just before it is found! Hold on to that.Who will listen to you? Are the names and numbers of the great and the good filed in the contacts list on your phone? Do you have the personal email addresses of presidents, judges and CEOs? If not, how can you expect to make a difference? Aren't you just one voice amongst many? Not quite! The people you know, know other people in turn. The comments you make, the contributions you supply, all have their impact and they become part of a gradual groundswell of popular, public opinion. Continue with a campaign today. When our emotional reactions get the better of us, we make ever more illogical choices. It isn't just that we become more self-indulgent, we can also become more self-destructive. Look, for example, at the way in which someone near to you is behaving. What can possibly justify their approach? Isn't it a classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face? So, what's driving that urge? How can their anger be diffused? You may not feel it is your responsibility to help but then, you do stand to gain from helping!
Novelists have power over their characters. They can put them in good moods. They can fix things so that their heroes and heroines benefit from convenient coincidences. We would all love to be able to call the same kind of shots in our daily lives. There are people into whose mouths we would dearly like to put certain words. But, in the absence of such an ability, the best we can hope to do is exercise some control over ourselves. How would you most like to see yourself responding to a current challenge? That's attainable!
There are always aspects of our existence that make no sense to us. No matter how ardently we pursue enlightenment or how hard we try to understand the situations in which we find ourselves, there will invariably be questions that we just can't answer. Existence itself is a mystery! Nobody has ever managed to fully explain what it is we are all doing here. It is therefore unreasonable to expect to have an objective view of what's needed in a sensitive situation today. You will just have to trust your best guess.
Why do people sometimes not return our phone calls or answer our emails? Usually, it's because they don't know what to say. Somehow, the problem that you potentially pose is complicated. They can't say a short, sharp, 'no', nor can they confidently provide a 'yes'. They need to talk to someone else or find some information. There is something they just aren't sure about. Somehow, if you want to be in with any chance of a response at all, you must simplify your question.
