Infinity is not imaginary. Eternity is not some far-fetched romantic notion. These things are very real. More real, indeed, than the fleeting lives that we lead and the ephemeral identities that we relate to so closely. How dare any of us decide that there is only one thing that is ever going to make us feel happy? What is the point of feeling fed up about one thing you seemingly can't have or change, when there is such a bigger perspective to be seen?
We all need to know where our umbrella is when it is raining. We rarely stop to think about shelter when the sun is shining.
Whenever we decide something is vitally important, whenever we commit ourselves to a particular preference, we create a rod for our own back. We increase the likelihood of encountering a problem, because we have now increased the number of things that we cannot allow ourselves to accept and feel happy about. We ought, therefore, to be very careful about what we care about in life. Can you possibly 'let go' of the emotional concern you are now hanging on to?
. Things never go 'all your own way' for long. You must either accept this with good grace or gnash your teeth. Either you try to be a dealmaker, a philosopher, an idealist and yet a pragmatist. That's what makes it so hard to get to know true nature. It would be better if you no more believe in 'a perfect world' than in fairies.
