Let us imagine that you are walking down a street. A stranger runs up and hands you a bag saying, 'I'm terribly sorry but please can I ask you to hold this for me for a moment? I'll be back very shortly. The next thing you know, they are gone and you are starting to feel ever sillier. What is in that bag? How long are you supposed to stay there? What kind of a situation is this? Aren't you entitled to just put it down and walk away? This week, you find yourself feeling trapped. But the real story is all about how you can set yourself free.

Not that you can tell by just looking at it. The difference, so far, is so subtle, as to be visually imperceptible. For now, we shall have to trust the astronomical mathematicians who tell us that the turning point has come. Now, let us consider the brink of change that you believe yourself to have recently reached. It is still early days. Any evidence is frustratingly flimsy. A feeling is really all that you can go on. But if it is a good feeling, you can trust it.You are often at your most effective and successful when you drive yourself into a bit of a frenzy. Or, it might be more polite to say, when you allow your own reaction to various provocations to become a little extreme and intense. Then, full of fury and determination, you start making things happen. You reach brave decisions and implement them with impressive discipline. But is it true to say that to be at your most effective, is also to be at your best? This big question is not 'which plan will work'? But 'which objective is right'? There are more useful strategies for you
