Can competitors collaborate? Of course. They can always decide to put aside their differences for the sake of a greater good. That requires co-operation and it often brings impressive results. Far more potentially problematic, is the situation that arises when people who, are supposedly playing for the same side or working in the same team, are secretly undermining each other. The trouble you really need to watch out for now, is not necessarily the trouble you have been keeping a careful eye on.
