Each day takes you closer to a big, immediate, change. It could just imply a small, seemingly insignificant development that turns out to have a series of consequences. Perhaps a bit like the loose thread which, when pulled upon, unravels an entire piece of knitting. But though it is sad to think of effort going to waste, the wool has been used to create the wrong garment. Now something much better can be created.
So, if you don't stand up for yourself, if you don't fight your corner, if you just allow bad behaviour to go unpunished, aren't you just allowing others to walk all over you? Many people believe this and there may well be some extenuating circumstances under which fury is the only appropriate response to an outrage. But often, we are too quick to get angry and once we do, we tend to say and do things that are then very difficult to back down from. Give someone a little longer and they may yet hoist themselves by their own petard.
