When HG Wells wrote The Time Machine, he would have had no idea how influential it would eventually prove to be. Although, if he had actually created the device that he described so eloquently, he would have been able to visit the future and see how well it was selling! We can all think of a thousand flippant uses for such a facility and it isn't hard for us to conjure a million more poignant reasons why we might pine for power over time.
But if nothing else you can at least keep the pressure of a deadline at .you feel as if, no matter how often you try to explain yourself to someone, they never really hear you? Do you think that perhaps they have a similar experience when they try to communicate with you? How is it possible for intelligent, sensitive, humans to exchange so many words yet make such little impact? And, how is it possible to improve the flow of information and enhance the depth of understanding? Expressions of exasperation won't assist this process. It will require great patience, regardless of what you wish to accomplish, you keep coming up against objections. Some people, it seems, aren't convinced by some of the beliefs and ideas that matter such a lot to you. If you want their co-operation (and surely you do) you must turn on the charm.
