Sometimes we fear that if we aren't doing something serious, difficult or demanding, we are somehow wasting our lives. We get used to trouble, tension and trauma. We come to expect hassle, hardship and heartache. Even if we have had more than our fair share of such experiences, we still suspect that we should be spending our time thinking profound thoughts and developing deep philosophies. Heaven forbid that we should become shallow or superficial, though, things will go your way for a change when you trust god. Nobody has written an instruction manual on how to make enemies and hack people off. But then some things come naturally to us all! The person who is now causing you the most aggravation required no special training. Your desire to return the fire is understandable, but you will get much further if, for the time being at least, you turn the other cheek
