Toddlers stride around with an air of authority. They act as if they own the place. Yet they know nothing. All is bluff and bluster. When finally, life obliges them to face this, they burst out in tears and demand the comfort of a parent. When we get older, we don't change much, we still like to pretend that we have all the answers. The only trouble is, when we suddenly realise that we are out of our depth, we cannot always seek solace so easily. Abandon pride and soon a powerful force will ride to your rescue.
Some jigsaw puzzles are easy to put together. One quick glance at the pieces is enough to tell you what goes where. Others are deceptive. Bits of sky with similarly shaped notches can take an eternity. You are wrestling with a problem that doesn't seem to have a solution. It ought to have one. It certainly needs to have one - yet, no matter how you try, you can't make progress. Or so you think. Actually, you have exhausted nearly all the options. An obvious, pleasing next step will make itself clear very soon.
No matter how we try to 'do the right thing,' we don't always manage it. Indeed, no matter how we try to understand what 'the right thing' is, we can't always be sure. Sometimes, we become convinced that something is 'right.' Only to find out later that it has been very, very wrong. And sometimes it is the other way around. Not everything in your life feels right at the moment, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong. The right thing to do now is seek clarity and wisdom. From that, all else will come.
Congratulate yourself. You are coping, magnificently, with something difficult and demanding. You are keeping a good grip on a slippery situation. You are, by being flexible and adaptable, behaving in the most sensible way that you can. It is only by keeping yourself in a state of comparative chaos that you can respond well to the drama unfolding in your world. Soon, life will finally start to show you what's real and worthwhile and what you can (and should) put behind you. Then your future will start to look a lot brighter.
You have choice. That's the problem. You don't want the responsibility that goes alongside this. You want the decision to be made for you. That way, you don't have to think. You can blame someone else if things go wrong. If they work out well, just be glad of your luck. You are not sure, though, whether things will work out well or badly regardless of which option you select. That's why you don't have to make the choice.
Deep within, though, you have already made your mind up. Trust this and go with it. Are there some magic words that can be uttered by anyone, any time to get your attention? Apparently so. You just can't let so much as a mention of a particular topic take place without feeling the urge to express something. As a result, your time is not your own. Your idea of how to pass a day is pushed aside the moment that someone else pushes your button. Yet you don't actually have to be so susceptible. No matter who or what is shouting a message of tension at you, try refusing to listen.
You had better get talking. And you had better keep on talking till an understanding has been reached. Or, if not an understanding, at least an acceptance of the existence of a misunderstanding. An agreement to differ. You may not realise this, but you are being listened to. When you speak, others pay attention. When you explain, they are likely to be persuaded. Silence, though, rarely communicates anything to anyone.
Open a dialogue and see where it leads you. You may be pleasantly surprised by the outcome. After your roller-coaster ride through the last few weeks, you feel ready for just about anything. Things, in your view, can easily get a whole lot better or a whole lot worse. You figure there is little point in trying to predict which it will be, for whichever it is, the other extreme will only be one sudden swing away. Actually, though, the past is often a very unreliable guide to the future. Today's immutable pattern can easily become tomorrow's broken precedent. Chaos is about to give way to calm; and uncertainty to security. As the picture changes now, you can only benefit.
