Nostalgia isn't what it used to be! Once, we pined for the good old days. Now, each time we look back, we wonder whether we're embellishing, embroidering or weaving a cloth of self-deception to disguise a truth we're keen to deny. And each time we look forward? Well, in these troubled times, none of us dare. Which leaves us with right now. Right here. What can be improved, not 'one day', but quickly and practically, using what you have to hand or can easily get. The answer may yet please you.
It doesn't matter how scrupulously you washed and ironed your clothes last week. If you've been wearing them since, or storing them carelessly, they're going to need more attention before they look smart again. It's not just materials, or even material goods, that require maintenance. Relationships also have to be repeatedly worked on a very special phase of your life. But don't be tempted to give up on something that, with effort, can be made as good as new.
Drug companies need people to get sick. If the world became a healthier place, they would lose billions. Policemen need criminals - or they wouldn't have jobs. Arms manufacturers need countries to have enemies. If ever anyone does come to the world with a genuine chance of promoting peace, love and understanding, someone would soon put an enormous price on their head. The strange, symbiotic, relationship between dark and light - even good and bad, needs to be acknowledged.
How hard do you need to work? How much sacrifice must you make? How much disappointment must you prepare for? How much trouble must you fight to keep at bay? The answer in each instance now is 'less than you think'. Your outlook is improving. You are worried that you may be about to get lost in uncharted territory or that in biting off more than you usually chew, there is a danger of choking... but then there's always something you can worry about. Try not to let any of this bother you now.
