When you think about the future, what do you see? And when you stop to imagine what the next phase of your personal story will bring, what comes to mind? To what extent is this prediction coloured by hope or fear? How might you be seeing what you want to see or - due to some perverse twist in your inner-psychology - what you don't want to see?At busy tourist spots, cartoonists ply their trade. They offer portraits but they actually create caricatures - amusing drawings in which the sitter's most distinctive features are exaggerated. You could argue that in the back of every human mind, a caricaturist sits and sketches. It is not just people's physical features that we sometimes distort for dramatic effect. Our views of many situations are subtly adjusted. Sometimes, we downplay faults and sometimes, we blow them out of all proportion. But really, you must strive for clarity.
'An eye for an eye,' as Mahatma Gandhi, once observed, 'will make the whole world blind.' If we sincerely, seriously, want to improve the quality of life for every inhabitant of this planet, we must strive to find a way to put love and forgiveness before anger and resentment. It all sounds jolly nice and easy but it is a lot harder to put into practice, especially when it seems we need to love the unlovable and forgive the unforgivable. Yet We  have been born blessed with some saintly qualities. Let them shine.  The more we see conflict between what the past found appropriate and the present looks at. The piece is a celebration of sugar that might offend many a dentist or diabetic. Yet you are now in a position to make someone else's life sweeter. There's no harm in that.
Nature can sometimes be unkind. But mostly, the earth supports its inhabitants and gives far more than it takes, regardless of whether that giving is met with ambivalence or appreciation. People, too, are fundamentally generous. Their natural instinct is to be helpful and supportive wherever possible. Yet sometimes they deem it impossible. They create exceptions and thus make the world a much harsher place than it needs to be. The more you can find in your heart to give  the more the universe will give back to you. What is the best way to end up a winner? Refuse to be daunted by the thought of losing. Whilst it's true that many people drive themselves to success through a fear of failure, such individuals can never fully allow themselves to relax. How can we seriously equate such a mental state with 'winning'? What would happen if you were to drop all your anxiety about something going wrong? This wouldn't make you careless. Your natural sense of responsibility is too strong for that. It would just make a situation much easier. You deserve that.
Free speech is a wonderful thing, even when it facilitates the expression of ideas or beliefs that seem outrageous. And nobody can say that the majority is always right. Right or wrong, though, their views hold sway. As you now try to unravel a complicated situation in your life, you need to establish some understanding between what most of you wants and what a bit of you wants. Try to be fair.
