If we are not careful, we can spend our whole lives doing the things that others want us to do. If we are sensitive, we can soon tell what the folk around us need. And if we're kind, we will naturally want to help out where we can. Soon, though, if we carry on in this way, our independence will evaporate. People don't mean to keep on taking until we have nothing left to give but unless they are told to stop, they will accidentally keep on, will effectively oblige you to draw a line. That's a good thing. If something isn't working now, there may be a very good reason why. Not a practical reason, not even a sensible reason... but perhaps a cosmic, karmic, spiritual, psychic reason. The kind of reason that seems, at the time, as if it cannot possibly exist. The kind that, in hindsight, makes all the sense in the world, a situation that somehow inhibits, delays or prevents the kind of progress that actually, deep down inside, you really don't want or need!Wishes really do come true. Why then, do so many of us still feel dissatisfied with our lot? Because few of us ever wish for the right thing. We ought to wish for wisdom. Yet we feel quite convinced that we can cope without it so we wind up with lives full of all the things we thought we wanted but didn't really need.
