It's amazing how long a precarious balance can be maintained. We look at a situation and think, 'This is unsustainable.' Then discover that it keeps going for a long time. People are inclined, wherever possible, to continue the status quo, rather than to overturn it. So they come up with new ways to make do and mend. They patch up problems and paper over the cracks in unsatisfactory structures. That's how a set of undesirable circumstances has managed to remain in existence for so long. Now, it really is time for them to change.We get back what we give out. If we are generous to others, others are generous to us. Now you might think, 'That's obvious, why wouldn't they be?' Because I'm not trying to say that the generosity will be shown towards us by the very same people. It may be other individuals entirely who return the favour on their behalf. It is as if, through good deeds we earn ourselves some kind of invisible sticker. The only people who can see it, are those who are similarly inclined to be kind. A past, positive action, is about to be repaid.
