MIND SETTING

What could you do if you really set your mind to it? How far could you get? How successful could you be? It isn't talent (or the lack of it) that limits your potential. It isn't really desire (or the lack of that) either. The culprits are more likely to involve determination, discrimination and the ability to resist distraction. We pay too much attention to things that we ought to ignore. We set off with the best of intentions and then find our energies have been diverted. The power to focus may seem like an elusive ability - but right now, it is one that you have!
We all like to feel that we have at least some of the answers to life's most perplexing questions. Indeed, we like this feeling so much that we allow ourselves to indulge it, even when it is fairly clear that we don't have those answers at our disposal. We cling to theories and clutch at straws. When our beliefs are challenged, we defend them all the more vigorously because we are secretly aware of how flimsy they may turn out to be. Be gentle with someone who seems loudly opinionated  because inwardly, they may just be afraid. Real presence or a shadow? EXPLORE FIRST.
How much do you need to know about a topic in order to declare yourself an expert? You certainly don't need to have all the answers. You need not even be aware of all the possible questions. But if you know a little more than most other people do, that will render you an expert in their eyes. And if you secretly happen to know that someone else knows more than you do, well, you need not worry. Nobody else is expert enough to tell the difference! But be just a little wary of an apparent claim to infallibility.
Remember Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Terminator? Nobody messed with him! Well, actually, they did but when they did, they soon lived to regret it! Now, I'm really not suggesting that you make him your role-model today. Whilst you definitely could benefit from becoming a little more assertive, there is no need to go quite that far. Remember, though, that other people don't actually know exactly how much Arnie you have within you. There is no great harm in allowing yourself to exude a slightly more menacing air.
